Punk Rock Flea Market (PRFM) Lorain is a unique concept in DIY art, entertainment and indie small business sales and promotions in Northeast Ohio.

PRFM Lorain brings artistic and unique vendors together in one area to promote and sell their wares to the community resulting in a new shopping experience that goes beyond arts & craft shows.

PRFM Lorain is a family oriented event that combines vendors, food, music, fun, and more, with a portion of door proceeds going to different non-profit organizations in the community.

Stats:

$255 and 4 boxes of food for the Lorain Salvation Army food pantry (November 2015)

$1,150 for Genesis House/Lorain County Safe Harbor (May 2016)

$450 in monies and school supplies for local students (August 2016)

$850 for Lorain County Habitat for Humanity (October 2016)

$320 for toys and money donations to the Salvation Army (December 2016)

$725 for NAMI Greater Cleveland (April 2017)

Beginning of PRFM Lorain

PRFM Lorain started out as a project by Laura Bock, inspired by other PRFM’s around the country. Laura, a proud and spirited old school Punk, born and raised in Lorain, decided that instead of talking about how Lorain needed good PR and an artistic community renaissance, she would take action.

Laura brought the first PRFM to Lorain as a holiday market in November 2015. This was a shot in the dark endeavor, but she sold the event not only to the vendors who set up, but to an entire community.

With over 25 different vendors ranging from handmade crafts, jewelry, body care products, photography, comics, collectibles and much more, PRFM Lorain Holiday Edition 2015 had over 300 visitors from Lorain and surrounding communities as well as Cleveland, Akron, Canton, and Toledo.

All marketing and promotions are still done through old school methods using printed fliers and word of mouth, as well as paid social media marketing campaigns and promotions.

Future of PRFM Lorain

PRFM Lorain has grown from a solo project to a volunteer committee dedicated to success and growth in Lorain County as a whole, as well as giving back to the community at large.

Plans are to grow PRFM Lorain into a street fair and eventually a festival on Black River Landing, with a full line-up of entertainment, bands and more.

After our first full year of shows in 2016, we have decided to do these markets bi-annually: Spring and Fall (combining a Halloween and Christmas theme). We have outgrown the small confines of storefronts in Downtown Lorain and are spreading our wings to larger locations in Lorain County. We are, however, still involved in the rebuilding of Downtown Lorain and its entertainment district, by remaining active members of Invest Lorain.

PRFM Lorain is looking for a few excellent community sponsors so we might grow this unique experience into all we can, and more.

If this sounds like something you would like to help out with, please reach out to us.
